Fields on other tab only validate when visible

I have some additional detail tabs configured in Incident to capture additional required info based on the service/category. I set required rules in the tab's form, which work, but only if the tab is selected.

 

For example, if I start an Incident ticket and select a category to trigger this detail tab to open and click Save, I get a validation failure prompt as I should, and the fields highlight.

 

 

 

 

If I don't select this tab, I'm able to save the ticket without filling these fields. Any ideas on how to force validation on this tab even if it's not the currently viewed tab?
